Mr. Friess attended the University of Kansas. He played on the football team and threw the javelin. While he was at KU, Mr. Friess received his Bachelor’s degree and in 1996 earned his Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. Mr. Friess is married to Brenda Friess who works for UPS. Together they have two daughters:  Amy, 24, who is married to Marcus Herrera,  a Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina and Kortney, 20, who is a junior at Kansas University.  This is Mr. Friess’s 28th year as a teacher/administrator in USD 428.  It is his 4th year as Principal at GBHS after 12 years as an Assistant Principal at GBHS.

 

 

 

Mr. Wetzel attended Barton County College, as well as St. Mary of the Plains with a BS in Education. Mr. Wetzel received his MS degree at Kansas State University. Mr. Wetzel is married to Brenda Wetzel who is an office manager at Manweiler Chevrolet in Hoisington. They have two grandchildren: Haley, who is a senior at GBHS, and Cody, who is a sophomore at GBHS. Mr. Wtezel graduated from GBHS in 1973 and began his teaching at Ell-Saline High School. Before coming to GBHS, Mr Wetzel was a basketball coach at Russell High School and an assistant coach at Seward County Community College along with the University of Texas-Edinburgh.

 

 

 

Mr. Vesta graduated with his Bachelor's degree from Emporia State University where he also played football. In 2009 he earned his Master’s degree from Fort Hays State University. Mr. Vesta is married to Amy Vesta and has two daughters. Mallory is attending Barton Community College, and Madeline is a sophomore at GBHS. This is Mr. Vesta’s 15th year in education. Prior to becoming Assistant Principal, Mr. Vesta taught in the Alternative Learning Center here in Great Bend.
